Simply put, grief is a reaction to loss. Grief may be experienced as sadness, numbness, or even physical pain. Grief is unique to the person experiencing loss. In the words of Vicki Harrison, “Grief is like the ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim.”

This group is designed for adults experiencing loss to come together in a shared, safe place and learn to navigate the waves together. While each person’s grief is different and wholly unique to them, most people experience it as an isolating experience; feelings of loneliness exacerbate and prolong the acute pain of grief. Research tells us that those who are able to find connection with others are able to better cope with and heal from loss.
